Spinosaurus At OCC

By; Ms. Wada/Paraprofessional

The students and staff in Room 1 got a special treat on Friday, October 5. We had the privilege of going to see National Geographic LIVE! Spinosaurus: Lost Giant of the Cretaceous at Ocean County College. You are probably wondering, “What is National Geographic LIVE!?” Nizar Ibrahim, a renowned paleontologist, gave a talk on his findings. He also showed some visual aids, including: detailed drawings of different species of dinosaurs, animated videos of what the dinosaurs would look like, and video footage of major discoveries. Ibrahim is a Moroccan and German scholar, paleontologist, and captivating speaker. He captured the attention of all of our students and staff, as he told his exciting tale about searching the Sahara Desert and unearthing a lost species of dinosaur, the Spinosaurus.  It was such an honor to be in the presence of such an important scientist! The students were so in awe of him, many even lined up to get his autograph afterwards. In the words of Ibrahim, “We found an entire lost world; a window on a moment of major evolutionary change.”
