Over the course of the year, students worked on adapting scenes from some of their favorite films and television shows. Students first worked on the proper formatting and basic elements of screenwriting. Then, they examined scenes instead of simply watching them. This allowed them to understand how scenes are shot in terms of camera angles, cuts, and transitions. Scenes students worked on were from Dodge Ball, Predator, The Waterboy, Happy Gilmore, Good Burger, and The 100, but one of their greatest technical achievements came from a scene from The Ring (see below). Students took time both behind and in front of the camera, and some students who were hesitant to get in front of the camera in the beginning of the year came out of their shells to become some truly wonderful actors.
