Curious about what’s been going on in the Elementary Room lately? Last month, Alaska the therapy dog came to visit. This month, we had another special visitor. Like Alaska, this visitor isn’t human. However, this visitor is not a furry, four-legged friend. Dom the Elf, sporting his aviator jacket, came all the way from the North Pole to keep an eye on the class! Dom has been kind enough to treat the kids to stockings, activity pages, and even mugs for them to decorate! Many students in the class are skeptical about Dom. Some have even had a bad attitude about the whole situation. Because of their negativity and cynical attitude towards him, Dom refused to move from his spot for several days, as he was on strike. Fortunately, Dom decided to give them another chance last Friday, after witnessing a lot of good behavior the day before. Dom hopes that everyone will get into the holiday spirit this month. As Miss Alyssa says, “If you don’t believe, you don’t receive!”
In other news, during Social Studies, Miss Wada has been teaching the class about another holiday being celebrated this December: Hanukkah, also known as The Festival of Lights. One student, Aaron, was very helpful in teaching these art-infused lessons. Topics that were touched upon include: a brief discussion of monotheism, Judaism, the story of Hanukkah, and Hanukkah traditions and symbols. Thanks for your help, Aaron!
Happy Holidays, everyone! Hope everyone enjoys their well-deserved vacation!
