We are having a great Summer here at Ocean Academy’s ESY Program. This week we went on our annual trip to Jenkinson’s Aquarium in Point Pleasant Beach. The students and staff split up into two groups and were led on an awesome tour to see the animals and marine life. Among them where exhibits of exotic fish, coral reefs, seals, penguins, and many other animals from around the world. There was also a rainforest area with parrots and monkeys coupled with a pine barrens section with turtles, frogs, and owls. These exhibits gave the students the opportunity to get up close and personal with the animals and learn about their natural habitats, diets, and unique personalities.
A highlight of the group tour was the touch tank in which we got the chance to touch live animals such as starfish, horseshoe crab, and stingray.. After the tour was over, we walked along the boardwalk and down to the inlet to take in some beautiful views and watch the boats sail by. It was a great trip and we are looking forward to the next one as the Summer fun continues.
