Did you know this is the 79th running year of the NCAA Men’s Division 1 basketball tournament? For sports fans, March Madness in one of the most exciting times of the year. Buzzer beaters, overtimes and upsets are all part of this action-packed month! Every year, 68 teams compete, with 4 play-in games, compete for the National Championship. This year was especially unique because the Final Four included an 11th seed, the “Cinderella team,” Loyola-Chicago.
Making up the Final Four, we had Villanova, who played Texas Tech and Michigan, who played Loyola-Chicago. Making it to the Championship with wins were the Villanova Wildcats and the Michigan Wolverines.
After an exciting game, this year’s National Champions, coached by Jay Wright, were the Villanova Wildcats. They reached the Final Four with wins over 16 seed Radford, 9 seed Alabama, 5 seed West Virginia, and 3 seed Texas Tech. For the Wildcats, this is their third National Championship in school history with a score of 79-62. Shout out to Mrs. Cooper a Wildcat alumni!
