May is Mental Health Awareness Month!  The Bright Harbor Foundation, was the host to a mental health and wellness fair right here in Ocean County.  There were many vendors involved including Ocean Academy.  Mr. Austin thought this would be a great opportunity for the students to get involved in their community and represent Ocean Academy. The students arrived at the Ocean County College Campus bright and early to help the vendors set up their tents, tables, and carry any materials.  The students were beyond eager to help and their help was greatly appreciated by all.  Lake House Music Academy came to the campus to sing an original song with our students and our yoga teacher lead a yoga lesson with them on the lawn. Our students promoted our school by walking around and handing out (or throwing) frisbees to the college students that were attending their final classes this semester.  The OCC students loved the interaction with our students as they chased after the frisbees and engaged in a toss with them.  Our students also were able to walk around the campus and see what their local community college looks like.  Many enjoyed the newly renovated student center.  Bridging the gap between our school and the community is something of great value for both the students and made their worldview that much bigger.
