OA students did a marvelous job with their pumpkin projects; History and literary works came to life on pumpkin canvases! Horror stories from Edgar Allen Poe to stories about the human drive to find peace in ones country and one’s self. Others presented poems of dragons and Native American creation stories. History was made with the Lusitania pumpkin, the Cold War, and the upcoming Presidential election pumpkin. A couple of our student’s pumpkins reflect current events; the Mets and their World Series aspirations, to The Historic Stonewall Inn, the site of the 1969 riots that launched the gay rights movement. We are extremely proud of the effort and enthusiasm of our students!
