Visiting Artist Tamara Worocuzk

By: Drennan Hayden/ John Bernaski/Instructional Paraprofessional

Ocean Academy has been lucky enough to have a number of visiting artists who have brought their own unique skills to the school and have produced some great work. In this instance, the visiting artist was Tamara Worocuzk. She is a former Art teacher who is also a member of the Ocean County Artist Guild. Her artwork has adorned the halls of Ocean Academy in recent weeks. She focuses on animal and plant life in her work, recreating vivid wildlife scenes through cut paper collage. Using special papers and acrylic medium and lots of patience she creates brilliant images.

Students participated in a project using similar methods to the artist. Students chose an animal (in some cases fantasy creatures) and made a cut paper collage. Tamara brought in a plethora of unique papers and offered guidance as to how students should execute the project. Students were engaged in the work and produced some excellent results. Some of the projects are potentially being entered in the Art and Soul Brunch.   Tamara will be returning to work with a different group of students in the month of January. Ocean Academy is grateful this artist has come to our school, and shared her knowledge and artwork with us.
